To celebrate World Environment Day, the Beachcomber Group is organising a number of activities on Tuesday the 5th of June 2018 to help protect and preserve our planet. World Environment Day is celebrated across the globe every year. This United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) initiative raises awareness of key environmental issues and of the importance of protecting our environment in order to safeguard our quality of life and our planet’s survival.

This year marked the third edition of the Mauritius Tour Beachcomber (MTB) competition, a firm favourite among mountain bikers and thrill-seekers from both Mauritius and abroad. From the 17th to the 19th of May the MTB brought together more than a hundred participants from Reunion, South Africa, the United States and Mauritius.

Since 2015, the Ultra Trail Raidlight Beachcomber has attracted Mauritian and foreign runners with a love for nature through its tracks across the island’s beautiful landscapes. Willing to help in the protection of the Mauritian biodiversity, the organisers of this year’s Ultra Trail have decided to partner with the Mauritian Wildlife Foundation. Indeed, Rs50 out of each registration fee of the UTRB will be redirected to the association, supporting their cause.

On Saturday April 14th 2018, ahead of World Earth Day, the environmental organisation Project Rescue Ocean Mauritius held an event to clean up Île aux Bénitiers with the support of Beachcomber Resorts & Hotels. The intention was to help restore the island to its original beauty. Île aux Bénitiers is a favourite stop-over for both tourists and residents during boat trips on the west of Mauritius

Morris Beef, the only restaurant in the Beachcomber group restaurant specialising in meat dishes, is located at the heart of the Victoria for 2 wing, an adults-only space within the Victoria Beachcomber Resort & Spa. It’s the perfect place to enjoy delicious cuisine in a relaxed and intimate setting, while taking in breathtaking views over the Balaclava Marine Park and the lagoon off of the west coast of Mauritius. All of this under the watchful eye of one of the island’s most iconic cars: a 1949 Morris Minor.

2018 promises to be great, with the tracks of the 5th edition of the Ultra Trail Raidlight Beachcomber recently unveiled. On the 28th of July, trailers will be in the starting blocks, with four races expected to be thrilling. The first contenders to start will do so on the “Trail des 7 couleurs by Raidlight & Beachcomber”, a fascinating 100km to be completed either alone or in pair. The races to follow are the “Trail de la Perruche by Air France” (47km), “Trail du Nautile by Transcontinents” (25km) and the last race of the competition, the “Trail du Souffleur” (10km) scheduled on the 29th of July.
