Teaching them young
A group of 10-year-olds from a local school in Mauritius recently spent a day at Shandrani Resort & Spa where the specially trained team of ‘Shandrani Rangers’ gave the youngsters a class on Marine Conservation.
The name "Shandrani Rangers" designates the group of staff that followed a one-week course with the National Marine Aquarium in November 2012. Following this course, Shandrani Resort & Spa was awarded the Bronze Conservation through Tourism award.
The children learned about the different types of corals, the impact of pollution on the environment and how they can protect the environment.
An exciting day ended with a glass bottom boat excursion to observe the marine species in their natural environment.
